  1. Fantastic blog! Do you have any hints for aspiring writers?
I'm planning to start my own website soon but I'm a little
lost on everything. Would you advise starting with a free platform like Wordpress or
go for a paid option? There are so many options out there that I'm completely overwhelmed ..
    Any ideas? Thanks!

    1. For the "advice to aspiring writers", I'm going to give you the biggest cop out answer first, "Just write."
I call it a cop-out because it's what all writers tell people who want to be writers, but writers, write.
Also, read what you enjoy, but occasionally read stuff that bores the heck out of you in order to expand your perspective.
A tactic I used for filmmaking may help a bit too. Some writers have trouble composing complex plot lines, or intersecting stories. Others have more trouble with character development (yours truly) and some have difficulty with describing locations or surroundings in a satisfying way.
When I was trying to hone my filmmaking a bit, I started by doing shorts which eliminating certain obstacles. A Black and White Silent shot outdoors so that sound wasn't an issue while shooting and lighting was pretty much what we had to work with. That let me concentrate on composing shots and directing my actor.
See what I mean? Choose what you or readers feel your weakest spot is and eliminate it from work you plan to publish.
Take this same area that needs development and make it the center of your personal projects.
I think you may have come up with my next blog subject.

As for paid vs free, I haven't really found which works better for me yet, but just having something content driven out there seems to make a difference.
